MANCHESTER CENTER -- Mrs. Laurice Chehade, widow of Khalil Chehade, 72, a resident of Riverside Townhouses, Manchester Center, died Monday, May 26, 2003 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, June 15, 1930 she was the daughter of Salim Chidiac and Saada Ari. She received her education in Lebanon and attended the American University in Beirut.

In earlier years Mrs. Chehade had worked in antique sales in Lebanon and later for KLM Airlines.

After visiting the Manchester area for many years, Mrs. Chehade moved to Manchester in 1977.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Manchester and the Catholic Daughters of America. Mrs. Chehade enjoyed studying religion and politics. She also enjoyed reading and gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Grace Chehade of Manchester and Lydia Chehade of Beirut, Lebanon; two sisters, Josephine Daoud and Evelyn Chahine, both of Lebanon; a brother, George Chidiac of Brazil; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held from St. Paul’s Church, Bonnet Street, Manchester on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 3 p. m. where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Laurice Chehade may be made to either Manchester Health Services or Southwestern Vermont Medical Center through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
