Lawrence A. Wuensch 1937 - 2008 POWNAL Lawrence A. Wuensch, 71 a resident of Petitt Drive, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday morning Oct. 8. Prior to relocating to Pownal three years ago, he had resided in Rowayton, Conn., for 35 years. Mr. Weunsch was born in Staten Island, N.Y., on April 22, 1937, son of Michael Edward and Mary Agnes Petronella Weunsch. He grew up in New York City and was a graduate of St. Peter's Boys High School in Staten Island and attended New York State Maritime College and Wagner College. Mr. Wuensch was an Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War from 1958 until 1962. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an Information Technology executive in the data consulting services industry, he had also served for 25 years as a Connecticut State Police auxiliary trooper. He was a member of the Connecticut State Police Alumni Association and the National Rifle Association, he enjoyed skiing, sailing, target shooting and cars. He leaves his wife of 35 years Joan "Joni" Charbonneau) Wuensch of Pownal, children Michael L. Wuensch of Pownal, Jennifer L. Wuensch of Los Angeles, Calif., Dorene L. Piencka of Norwalk, Conn., Douglas M. Wuensch of Escondido, Calif., and Beth Lindley of Ventura, Calif., a sister Margaret Wuensch of New York, N.Y., grandchildren Katie Wuensch, Edward Scarpone, Ashley Scarpone, Dale Lindley, Dillon Lindley and Devon Lindley, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Edward Wuensch. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington, a prayer service will precede the funeral mass at 9:30 at the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME. Burial with full military honors will take place in the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville, N.Y. Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. when the family will be present, the Vigil Service will be held Monday afternoon. Should friends desire memorial gifts in memory of Mr. Lawrence A. Wuensch may be made to either the Connecticut State Police Alumni Association or to the Visiting Nurses Association & Hospice of SVHC in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
