Lawrence Baker "Larry" 1949-2010 NORTH POWNAL Lawrence "Larry" Baker, 61, a resident of Dean Road in North Pownal, passed away Saturday September 25, 2010 at his home. Larry was born in Hoosick Falls, New York on April 3, 1949, the son of Benjamin Baker and Nellie Demars who raised him. Larry attended area schools and was a graduate of the first graduating class of Mt. Anthony Union High School, formerly known as Bennington High School. Larry worked for NSK in Bennington for many years as a tool maker. Larry loved working on cars, especially hot rods. In his earlier he raced at Lebanon Valley Speedway and then built a car for his youngest son Lucas so the tradition of racing could continue. Larry was a member of the North Pownal Fire department and cherished tomes spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who he adored. Larry is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth (Betty) Buck of North Pownal, his children Rebecca Bowen of, Berlin, New York, Matthew Baker and his wife Tess of Bennington, Anthony Baker and his wife Sally of North Pownal, Larry (L.J.) and his wife Teneille of Pownal and Lucas Baker and his wife Jessie of North Pownal, his granddaughters, Brittany, Samantha, Rachel, Shaunna, Monica, Mehgyn and Emma, his grandsons, Anthony, Nicholas, Austin, Logan, Jonathan, Justin, Derrick and J.R. and his great grandchildren Dakoda, Akeila and Alosha, his brothers, Benjamin Baker, Edward Baker and sisters Joann Stewart, Barbara, his step-sister Carol Hunt and his very special friends Don Russell and Bud Hall. He was preceded in death by his best friend and brother-in-law, Joseph Buck. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Larry will be held Tuesday evening September 28, 2010 at 5 p.m. at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, Vermont. Pastor Gary Rogers of the North Pownal Congregational Church will conduct the service. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday September 28, 2010 from 2 to 6 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
