Lawrence E. Doucette

1941 - 2016 GLASTENBURY On Jan. 13, 2016 Larry died peacefully in the arms of some family members after a 5 year battle with cancer. Born in Melrose, MA., he was the son of the late Ernest Doucette and Catherine McCauley-Doucette. Larry had a passion for motorcycles. He and his wife traveled for miles on end, just to ride. He attended several motorcycle rallies across the U.S., including Laconia Bike Week for the majority of years since 1952. Larry was a gentle man who, along with his wife, put together a motorcycle rally to raise money for Hospice of Bennington County every year for 10 years. He was happily married to Margaret Doucette for 25 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by five of his children, Allan, David, Jeanette, Carole, and Lawrie. He was also father to the late, Dawn Wilson. With the marriage to his wife, he gained two step-daughters, Tina and Tammy, and a step-son, Ernie. He is also survived by eight siblings. Between him and his wife's family he had countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry was a man who touched the lives of many people and his kindness will be carried on through others. SERVICES: Larry requested that no services take place. In the spring there will be a gathering in North Bennington at his grave site and a gathering in June, Bike Week/ Father's Day weekend in Laconia. We will get the information out when we have specific plans. Memorial gifts may be made to Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center, 140 Hospital Drive, Bennington, VT 05201
