Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A memorial gathering for Lawrence H. Dunlop was held at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Thursday evening, where several of Mr. Dunlop’s friends and family offered personal reflections and tributes, including many fellow Army Airborne comrades, who served with him or came to know him over the years.

A presentation was made to the family by the New England Airborne Gavin Chapter titled “Airborne All the Way”. Military honors were accorded the World War II veteran by members of American Legion Post 13, they were led by Commander Patrick Moore and Chaplain John Welch; the American flag was presented by Ralph Brown of the American Legion Department of Vermont to Mr. Dunlop’s daughter, Sandra Redding. The unit stood in formation saluting the flag during the playing of taps. Masonic Funeral Rites were conducted by members of the Mt. Anthony Lodge F&AM, they were led by Past-Master Walter A. Noyes and Chaplain Mark R. Gates.

Mr. Dunlop, 83, a resident of 722 Main St. died Monday May 3 at the Albany Medical Center.

Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington VT 05201.
