HUDSON, N.Y. -- Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Tyler, 57, a former resident of Bennington, Vt. and for the last two years a resident of Ghent Manor in Ghent, died with friends at his side Saturday, July 3, 2004 at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

He was born in Schenectady, July 8, 1946. He was the son of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Coleman) Tyler. He received his education in Schenectady.

Larry was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam from 1963 to 1968.

In earlier years, Larry drove for a trucking company in Burlington, Vt.

He was a member of the Garden Club at Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Bennington and served as president of the Residence Council at Crescent Manor. He made lots of new friends at Ghent Manor but considered Crescent Manor in Bennington to be his home. The staff and residents there were his family.

Survivors include a very good friend, Wendy Brown of Shaftsbury; three brothers, Raymond Tyler Jr. of Colchester, Vt., Ricky Tyler of Highgate, Vt. and Robby Tyler; five sisters, Debra Rave of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Joanne Kaden, Sandra Cohan of Poughkeepsie and Lisa and Kimmy Tyler; his stepmother, Mary Nader of Highgate, Vt.; his stepfather, Irving Coleman of Port St. Lucie, Fla.

A graveside service will be held Thursday July 8, 2004 at the Center Shaftsbury Cemetery, Shaftsbury, Vt. at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Demasi officiating.
