Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A service of thanksgiving for the life of Leland V. Wood was held at the Second Congregational Church on Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Mary Lee-Clark, pastor, officiating.

Serving as organist for the service was Cindy Riddle, she accompanied the congregation in singing “How Great Thou Art,” “O Beautiful for Spacious Skies” and “Amazing Grace.” The 23rd Psalm and The Lord’s Prayer were recited in unison.

The Rev. Lee-Clark read a poem titled “I’m Free” as well as speaking about Mr. Wood’s love of his family, church and country. Words of remembrance were shared by Mr. Wood’s daughter, Linda.

The American flag of the World War II Army veteran was presented to Mr. Wood’s wife, Frances, by Joseph Krawczyk of V.F.W. Post 1332. A time of fellowship followed in Webster Hall hosted by the ladies of the church.

Mr. Wood, 81, a resident of Grandview Street died March 20, 2006, in Bennington.

Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St.
