Lena Ellen Lowe Comai

1929-2013 Lena Ellen Lowe Comai, 83, formerly of 161 Depot Street, Readsboro, Vt., died Sunday January 27, 2013 at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Northfield Falls, Vt.

She was born in Readsboro, Vt., on June 9, 1929, a daughter of Harry Leroy Lowe Sr., and Ellen Alinda (Berard) Lowe. She attended schools in Readsboro, Vt., and graduated from St. Joseph High School in North Adams, with the class of 1947.

Lena worked for the Readsboro Chair Shop for a few years before going to work as a Telephone Operator with the New England Telephone Co. in North Adams and Pittsfield. After she got married, Lena continued her employment with the Readsboro Chair Shop and successors until it closed.

Lena was last employed at the Readsboro Post Office as a Substitute Rural Mail Carrier, and at Mt. Snow Resort until her retirement in 1995. She is a communicant of St. Joachim's Church of Readsboro, Vt. She was a member of the St. Anne Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 29 where she served as President for 20 years.

She married widower Rizieri Randolph Comai on August 25, 1956 in St. Joachim Church, Readsboro, Vt.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Jones, and her husband James of Northfield Falls, Vt.; and Kathy Hiehle, and her husband Greg of Redondo Beach, Calif. Two sons; Roudolf Comai and his wife Madeline of Readsboro, Vt.; and Rizieri Comai and Joelle Barrows of Saxton River, Vt., and daughter in law Ellen Comai of Cary, N.Carolina and son in law Richard Colo of Readsboro,Vt. Sixteen grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Two sisters, Ina Guardyak, of Wauconda, Illinois; and Agnes Dalmaso of Solvay, N.Y.

She was pre-deceased by one brother, Harry L. Lowe Jr.; one daughter, Julia Ann Comai Colo; and one son, Dennis Comai.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Lena Comai will be celebrated Saturday February 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim Church, Readsboro, VT. Burial will be in the spring in Village Cemetery.
