Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Leo R. Boutin were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Monday, July 26, 2004, where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was concelebrated by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c., associate pastor, and the Rev. Julian LaFlamme.

Organist was Don McMahon and cantor was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the funeral mass were “I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” “Jerusalem My Happy Home,” “Parable” and “Song of Farewell.”

Bearers were Nick Lally, Jeremy Babson, Bill Joly II, Alan Stodella, Shane Briggs, Emilio Maisonet II and a granddaughter, Amber Dufresne.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

In attendance at the funeral service were members of the Bennington Rural Fire Department where Mr. Boutin had been a member for 25 years.

Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers. The American flag that draped the casket of the Korean Conflict veteran was folded and presented to his wife, Gloria Boutin. Taps were sounded by Maurice Rancourt.

A reception for family and friends was held at the Beech Street Firehouse.

Mr. Boutin, a resident of Gage Street, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
