Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Leo R. “Boots” Boutin, 69, a longtime resident of Gage Street, Bennington, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Born in Bennington Sept. 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Adjutor and Lucianna (LeClerc) Boutin. He received his education in Bennington. Mr. Boutin was a U.S. Air Force Korean Conflict veteran.

Mr. Boutin married the former Gloria Bills in Bennington on Feb. 14, 1991.

Leo had been employed at Bijur Lubricating Company in Bennington for 41 years prior to his retirement in 1996.

He was an honorary member of the Bennington Rural Fire Department, having served for 25 years.

An avid outdoorsman, Leo enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing and photography.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Boutin of Bennington; five children, Richard and Mark Boutin, Denise Baker and Patricia Boutin, all of Bennington, and Elaine Just of Manchester; two stepdaughters, Barbara Bills and Tammy Briggs, both of Bennington; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Boutin was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Boutin. The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday, July 26,2004, at 10 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 10:30 a.m. where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered.

The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

At the request of Mr. Boutin there will be no calling hours.
