Leo M. Surdam Jr.

1927-2014 HOOSICK FALLS, NY Leo M. "Coke" Surdam Jr. 86, passed away Saturday , August 16, at his residence on Bovie Hill Road in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. He was surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the former Carolyn M. "Khaki" Surdam. Leo was born on October 7, 1927, on Potter Hill, New York, son of the late Leo M.and Lucy (Cornell) Surdam. He was educated in schools in Hoosick Falls. He was a veteran of World War II. Leo worked at Oak Materials in Hoosick Falls for many years. He enjoyed bowling and watching sports especially the New York Giants and Mets. Leo was a former member of the Hoosick Falls Derby Club. He enjoyed his winters spent in Venetian Parks Estates in Sarasota, Fla. Leo is survived by his daughter Shirley White (Billy) of Bartlett, Ill.; two sons, Leo Surdam, III (Deborah) of Hoosick, N.Y. and Gerry Surdam of Bennington, Vt.; a sister, Hazel Springer of Eagle Bridge, N.Y.; his seven grandchildren, Matthew Steichen, Lauren Soto, Steve Surdam. Tanya Brock, Leslie Rousseau, Alyssa Surdam and Tara DeCicco; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Clifford and Arthur Surdam and two sisters, Dorothy Ryan and Betty Hayes. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wed., August 20 at 11 a.m. from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick, N.Y. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen McGovern Fund through the MAHAR FUNERAL HOME, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, N.Y.
