DORSET -- Lewis J. Fuiks Jr., 85, a seasonal resident of Dorset and Vero Beach, Fla., died suddenly at his Dorset Residence Monday, Aug. 30, 2004. He was born in Yonkers, N.Y. July 5, 1919, the son of Lewis J. and Ilse (Spindler) Fuiks. He graduated from the Barnard School for Boys in Riverdale, N.Y. and Colgate University, class of 1944, where he was a member of the DKE fraternity. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Saratoga as a deck and gunnery officer during World War II. The Fuiks family lived in Darien, Conn. Jack worked for many years for Interpublic Group Companies in New York City, where he was vice president and creative supervisor. Jack was a member of the Vero Beach Country Club, Riomar Country Club, Ekwanok Country Club and the IRMH auxiliary.

He is survived by his second wife, Elizabeth (Dodge) Fuiks, whom he married in 1993; his daughters, Jill Parker of Hingham, Mass. and Valli Lukeman of Dublin, Ohio; a son, Lewis J. Fuiks III of New York City; a brother, Robert S. Fuiks of Vero Beach, Fla.; and six grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 3:30 p.m. at Saint Paul’s Church in Manchester.
