WHITINGHAM -- Covey & Allen Funeral Home in Wilmington was filled Wednesday morning, Feb. 1, 2006, for the funeral services for Lewis Merroll Corse.

Pastor John Brigham of the Community Church of Whitingham and the Readsboro Baptist Church conducted the service. “Turn, Turn, Turn” and “Amazing Grace” were sung by Pastor Brigham, who played his guitar, accompanied by Laurie Fox and Molly Corse.

Pastor Brigham offered the opening prayer and the scripture readings. Readings and poems were offered by Lewis’s sister, Pauline Boyajian, and his granddaughter, Abigail. Words of remembrance were given by his sister, Charlotte, brother-in-law, Bill, his nephew, Mark, and many friends in attendance. Lewis’s son, Leon, offered a personal eulogy that depicted the aspects of Lewis’s life on the Corse family farm.

Upon leaving the funeral home, the funeral cortege proceeded past the farm, leading to a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Jacksonville Municipal Center. Interment will be private. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Kennedy, Sam, Bud, Roger Purington, Oliver Fellows and Art Dobias. Among those in attendance were area farmers, agriculture suppliers and Whitingham town officials.
