Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Lida M. Mattison, 95, a resident of Walloomsac Road in Bennington, died Friday morning, April 9, 2004, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.

She was born in Woodhaven, Long Island, N.Y. on March 12, 1909 and was daughter of the late Henry C. and Sarah (Johnson) Wilday. She received her education in Plainfield, N.J.

Mr. and Mrs. Mattison were married July 5, 1941 in Watchung, N.J. Mr. Mattison died on Feb. 13, 2002.

She enjoyed gardening and reading. Mrs. Mattison’s home and family were her main interest.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law and her husband, Jeannette and John J. Butler of Bennington; six grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Penny Mattison, Jason S. and Heaven Mattison, James J. and Karen Butler, all of Bennington, Colleen and Serge McKhann of Rumford, R.I., Christine Butler of Redwood City, Calif., and Catherine Butler of San Francisco, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren, Stephen and Griffin Mattison, Sarah and Felicity Mattison, Catherine and Jonathan Butler, and Ashley and Alex McKhann. Mrs. Mattison is also survived by one sister, Helen Haggan of Germantown, Md., and a brother, Stephen J. Wilday of DeFuniak, Fla., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by a son, Harry W. Mattison, who died on July 5, 1975.

At the request of Mrs. Mattison there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Interment will take place privately in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
