Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Lillian J. Lancour, 85, widow of Charles M. Lancour Sr., a former resident of Benmont Avenue, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at Centers For Living and Rehabilitation following a long illness.

Born in West Haven on April 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Ruben and Bertha (Lanfair) Julius. She received her education in the Shoreham schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Lancour were married July 19, 1938, in Rutland. Mr. Lancour died in 1983.

In earlier years, Mrs. Lancour was employed at various textile mills in the area. For many years she also was a toy party demonstrator.

An avid bingo player, she also enjoyed swimming and horse riding as a young woman.

Survivors include three children, John H. Lancour of Queensbury, N.Y., Charles M. Lancour Jr. and Joyce A. Brine, both of Bennington; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Violet Julius of Bennington; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. Mrs. Lancour was predeceased by a grandson, Timothy J. Reed, by a great-grandson, Jonathan M. Mulhall, and by a sister and three brothers, Christine Lemieux, Joseph, James and Vernon Julius.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 where the Mass of resurrection will be offered.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
