HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Lillian Weisberg, 88, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center, where she had resided since February. She formerly resided in Milford, Conn., and on Walton Street in Hoosick Falls. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Weisberg.

She was born Nov. 11, 1917, in Hoosick Falls daughter of the late James and Jane (Straham) McGrath. Lillian graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls and from Mt. Sinai Nursing College. She also worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital and was a visiting nurse in New York City.

Lillian enjoyed reading, swimming in the ocean and spending time with her family. Lillian was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Milford, Conn.

Survivors include her cousin Molly Stone of East Greenbush; nieces, Elizabeth McMartin of Hoosick Falls, Patricia Wilkie of Cambridge, Maureen Schneider of New Hampshire, and Jane Freely of Florida; nephews, William Griffin of Nevada, James Griffin of Hoosick Falls and John McGrath of Albany; great-nieces Karen Jennings and Donna Trottier, both of Hoosick Falls, and Debra O’Neil of New Hampshire; her brothers-in-law, Lou Weisberg of New York City, and Irving Weisberg of Ohio. Lillian is predeceased by two sisters, Anna Griffin and Dorothy Poulnot, and two brothers, John F. McGrath and Joseph McGrath.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St. in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hoosick Falls Health Center through the funeral home.
