Obituary Condolences

BUSKIRK, N.Y. -- Linda Adele Jeskie, 50, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Bennington, after a 30-year battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of George R. Jeskie, Jr.

Born Monday, Feb. 2, 1953 in Bakersfield, Calif., she was the daughter of Thelma Thompson Stake of Olathe, Colo. and the late Lewis Pierce. Due to her father’s job as a chemical salesman, the family moved many times. She lived in Toledo, Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Chicago.

Linda was living in Florida when she married her former husband. She moved to his home area, Hoosick Falls, and put down her roots. They owned and ran Dougherty’s Hotel for many years. On Nov. 16, 2001, she and George were married in Colorado, at Linda’s mother’s home.

Linda was determined to live every day to the fullest. She rose early to watch the animals in the yard and then got busy with all the things she wanted to accomplish. She loved nature and had a great time riding the four-wheeler into the woods to collect material for her dried flower projects. She loved gardening and was a fanatic about her yard being perfect. She enjoyed her cats and dog.

Along with her husband and mother, she is survived by a son, Anthony Wirmusky III, who is serving in the United States Army; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kathy Pierce of Cary, Ill.; a sister, Deborah J. Olbrich of Gurney, Ill.; four nieces and two nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to gather today at 5 p.m. at the Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge, to pay tribute to and celebrate Linda’s life. Her life was measured in memories, not years.
