POWNAL -- Linda M. (Beverly) Raimer, 58, of 393 Swallow Hill Road, a former longtime resident of Williamstown, Mass., died Thursday, May 11, 2006, surrounded by family at the North Adams Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on June 14, 1947, a daughter of the late George William Beverly and Florence B. (Ankers) Beverly. She attended schools in Williamstown and graduated from Mt. Greylock Regional High School with the class of 1965. She then graduated from the Charles H. McCann Vocational Technical High School postsecondary program in cosmetology and became a licensed cosmetologist/hair stylist.

In 1968 she opened Linda’s Looking Glass, a beauty salon in her home in Adams, Mass., for 10 years. After moving to her family home in Williamstown, she was employed at Village Coiffs. She then operated a day care center at her home on Ballou Lane in Williamstown. She then was employed at Headlines in Williamstown, and in 1990 she opened the New Attitudes Beauty Salon at her home, which she operated for 13 years. She relocated the business to Colonial Cuts in Williamstown. She was last employed at Your Cutting & Curling Place.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Patrick’s and St. Raphael’s parish in Williamstown, where she volunteered at the bazaar. She volunteered for the “Look Good Feel Better” program. She loved crafts and making scrapbooks.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, John M. Raimer, whom she married Aug. 19, 1967, in St. Thomas Church in Adams; a daughter, Rebecca Raimer Sartori, and her husband, Joel, of Pownal; two sons, Matthew Jon Raimer and Dwayne Edward Raimer, both of Goffstown, N.H.; three sisters, Virginia Ann Schwarzer and her husband, Ralph, of Cheshire, Mass., Bonnie Lee Cahoon and her husband, Charles, of Clarksburg, Mass., and Susan Jane Mader of Boylston, Mass.; two brothers, George William Beverly Jr. of North Adams and Harry Louis Beverly of Barefoot Bay, Fla.; her mother-in-law, Alvina Turoczy of Adams; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Cox of Palm Bay; a brother-in-law, Bruce Raimer of Adams; and nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

Funeral services for Linda M. (Beverly) Raimer will take place Saturday at 8:15 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church in Williamstown.

Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorial donations are suggested for the Eileen Barrett Foundation through the funeral home.
