MANCHESTER -- Lois Davidson Higbie, 84, a longtime resident of Manchester, died Monday morning, May 23, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

She was born in Jamaica Estates, Long Island, N.Y. on July 30, 1920, the daughter of Robert and Pearl (VanSicklen) Higbie. Lois was educated at home as well as in school in Philadelphia.

Lois was an honorary member of the Manchester Garden Club, where she served as ways and means chairwoman in the 40s and 50s. She was a life member of the Manchester Historical Society, a member of the Manchester chapter of the D.A.R., where she served as flag chairwoman for many years, a member of the Ekwanok Country Club and the First Congregational Church of Manchester Village.

Lois leaves no family survivors, but many loving caregivers and friends that will miss her dearly.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at 3 p.m. in the Higbie family lot in Dellwood Cemetery in Manchester Village. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Manchester Historical Society c/o Brewster Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester, VT 05255.
