Obituary Condolences

SUNDERLAND -- A memorial service celebrating the life of Lois E. Bahan was held Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church. The Rev. Deborah Estey conducted the service. Music was under the direction of organist George Paulin who led the congregation in the singing of the hymns “In The Garden,” “Softly And Tenderly” and “Hymn Of Promise.”

The Rev. Estey offered words from scripture and the gospel lesson. The poem “Footprints” was recited by Lois’s grandson Keylor, Psalm 23 was read in unison by granddaughter Mallory, the poem “Legacy” was read by grandson Wil and the eulogy was given by Lois’s son Bill Elwell.

Among those in attendance were members of the Pownal Fire Department and many area clergy. Interment followed in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington where the Rev. Estey offered burial rites and committal prayers. Serving as urn bearers were Victor Lampron and Fritter Halbur. A time of fellowship and refreshments followed the service at the Michael C. Paulen Community Room at the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church.

Lois E. Bahan, a resident of Shady Pines Road in Sunderland, died Jan. 6, 2007, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington surrounded by her family.
