Lorraine A. White 1922 - 2009 BENNINGTON, VT Lorraine A. White, 87, widow of Charles O. White, a resident of County Street, Bennington, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her family. Lorraine had made her home with her caregivers Darlin Wilkins, Jill Thomayer and Ivy Dwyer, her daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter. Born in Bennington, Jan. 6, 1922, daughter of William G. and Susan Robinson Marshall. She received her education in Bennington. In earlier years Lorraine was employed as a waitress in various restaurants in the Bennington area. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington and a volunteer with the Bennington Area AIDS Project. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, motorcycle trips and traveling with her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Glenn LaFont. Lorraine was a caring, selfless wife and mother and will be sorely missed by her family. She leaves her children, Beverly LaFont, and her husband Glenn, of West Glover, VT, Darlin Wilkins of Bennington, Norman E. White, and his partner James Brown, Mark D. White, Jeff L. White, and his wife Barbara, all of Bennington and William G. White of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Suzanne Quackenbush of North Adams, Mass., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. White was pre deceased by her husband Charles O. White on June 17, 2003; a son, Charles White and a granddaughter, Wendy J. Hoag; also by two sisters and a brother, Patricia Tesch, Lucy Thibodeau and Edward Marshall. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services celebrating the life of Lorraine White will be held from the St. Peters Episcopal Church in Bennington on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at 3 p.m. where the Burial Office with Holy Eucharist will be offered the Rev. Anita Shell-Lambert, Rector, officiating. There are no calling hours. Should friends desire contributions in memory of Mrs. White may be made to the Bennington Area AIDS Projects through the office of the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
