Obituary Condolences

BRATTLEBORO -- Lorraine B. Prue, a longtime resident of Brattleboro, and formerly of Bennington, died on Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, peacefully surrounded by her family.

She was born in Bennington on March 15, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Eugene Joseph and Cora Belle (Stratton) Prue. Lorraine received her education in Bennington.

She had been employed at the Bennington Bell Laundry Company for several years before it closed. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Bennington.

She lived in Brattleboro for over 20 years. She made her home with her son Mark and grandson Joshua. She was a caring and loving mother, and put her family above everything. She enjoyed scrapbooking, and growing plants. Lorraine was an avid collector of Native American articles and artifacts.

She is survived by four children: Glen Prue of Putney and Sheila Prue, Pamela Prue and Mark Prue, all of Brattleboro.

Lorraine leaves 14 grandchildren, with two special grandchildren: Lorretta Prue of Hinsdale, N.H., and Joshua Prue of Brattleboro. She has six great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, Della Osgood of Bennington and Cora Jordan of New York state; a special niece, Lila Hier of Bennington, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by her mother, Cora Stratton Prue, her sister, Virginia Jordan, sister Rose Bartlett and her brother, Lester Prue Sr.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington on Tuesday, July 31, from 11 a.m. until noon.

Services and interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
