Lorraine "Lorrie" Jeskie 1954 - 2011 SHUSHAN, NY Lorraine M. Jeskie, known to all as Lorrie, 57, beloved wife of David G. Jeskie, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, with her husband by her side, after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Born Wednesday, March 3, 1954, at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, daughter of Eleanor Linke Bandel of Shushan and the late Warren G. Bandel, Lorrie was a graduate of Salem Washington Academy, class of 1972. She studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design in New York City. She and David were married on Sept. 7, 1974, at St. Patrick's Church in Cambridge. They lived for many years in the Village of Cambridge before building their dream home, a post-and-beam house on over 90 acres, in Murray Hollow. In 1976, Lorrie went to work at Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company in Cambridge. She started as a bank teller and over the next 31 years worked her way up to Assistant Manager and would have become the Manager if her health had not started to fail. During her years with the bank she won numerous awards. Lorrie was a talented seamstress, making much of her and David's clothing through the years. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker, as well a very competent career woman. Although Lorrie and David had no offspring. they shared their lives with "fur-children"-- Jasper, Gabe, Chester, Moses and Murray, the year-old Labrador Retriever who was devoted to Lorrie and brought her much joy in her last months. She knew he would be there to ride in the truck with David after she was gone. Lorrie and David loved to go to Maine. It was always their special place. She enjoyed hot air balloon rides and had taken many in "Bingo" with her friends Russ and Bonnie. When she could no longer stay home alone, she accompanied her devoted husband on his refuse collecting rounds. Although her body was failing, her mind was sharp to th In 1991, Lorrie's only sibling, Kenneth James Bandel, died as the result of a logging accident. Along with her husband of 37 years and her mother, she is survived by her mother-in-law, Alyce Jeskie, and other members of her husband's family; her father's sisters, Dorothy Thomas, Elsie Kowalchyk and Helen Campigno; several cousins and Murray, her beloved dog. MEMORIAL NOTICE: It is Lorrie and David's wishes to have a service at a later time. To honor Lorrie, the family suggests a donation in her memory be made to either an animal shelter of your choice or the Intensive Care Unit at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center or for Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, both at 100 Hospital Drive Bennington, VT. 05201. The family wants to thank the entire Intensive Care staff and the staff at C.L.R. who so lovingly cared for Lorrie. Also, a very special thank you to the extended community for the care and concern shown to Lorrie and David these past years.
