1930 - 2014 WILLIAMSTOWN, MA Mrs. Lorraine Marchegiani, 84, widow of Fred J. Marchegiani, a resident of White Oaks Road, died peacefully Thursday morning, Oct. 23, at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams, on Apr. 18, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Nelson J. and Alice E. (Blanchard) Foster. Lorraine received her education in Williamstown and was a graduate of Williamstown High School. Lorraine and Fred were married on Oct. 9, 1948, at the First United Methodist Church of Williamstown. Fred died on Feb. 6, 2005. In earlier years Lorraine worked in Williamstown at Bacon's Restaurant, now known as Coyote Flaco and later at the Star Diner, now known as Chef's Hat restaurant. Lorraine enjoyed working with her hands and taught many how to crochet, knit, tat and weave. She ran a Yarn and Notions Shop from her home and at the diner; she made and sold many handmade items, from dolls to sweaters. In later years, she did oil paintings of area landscapes. Lorraine spent many years as a campground host for the National Forest enjoying wildlife, camping and the outdoors with her late husband. Lorraine was a member of American Legion Post 90 in Pownal, Vt. and also had been an art instructor at the Muriel Flagg Girl Scout Camp on Northwest Hill in Williamstown sharing her talents with children. Survivors include a daughter, Penny Willette and her fiance, Malcolm Breault, of Pownal; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Judy Marchegiani of Manchester, Vt., and David and Karen Marchegiani of Pownal; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael David Marchegiani; a son-in-law, Bud Willette; and a brother, Nelson J. Foster Jr. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR SON FUNERAL HOME in Bennington on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Lorraine Marchegiani's memory may be made to either the Park McCullough House or to the Marchegiani family through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
