Obituary Condolences

PAWLET -- Lottie G. Herrick, 96, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at Indian River Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born Sept. 1, 1909, in Danby, she was the daughter of Roy E. and Cassie (Harrington) Greene.

She enjoyed being a homemaker on the family farm and was an avid reader and super cook. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans and baby blankets for her family and was a loving mother and grandmother. For a short time she was the pastry chef at the Dorset Inn.

Lottie was a long-time member of the Pawlet Grange, Evening Flower Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and the Pawlet Community Church.

Her husband, Guy W. Herrick, to whom she showed much dedication through several illnesses, died in 1976. Her son, Guy W. “Bill” Herrick, Jr., three brothers, Sewell Greene, Myron Greene and Malcolm Greene, and two sisters, Mildred Sprague and Muriel Scally, died before her. Survivors include two sons, Platt Herrick and his wife, Mabel, of Pawlet and Bruce Herrick and his wife, Sherry, of Middle Granville, N.Y.; two daughters, Charlotte Jordan and her husband, William, of Pawlet and Shirley Evans and her husband, Roger, of Granville, N.Y.; two brothers, Clifford Greene of Pawlet and Clyde Greene of Benson; one sister, Gladys Corey of Danby; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pawlet Community Church with the Rev. Robert Boutwell officiating. Burial will be at the Mettowee Valley Cemetery, Pawlet. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church Street, Granville. Memorials may be in the form of contributions to the Physical Therapy Department of Indian River Health & Rehabilitation Center, 17 Madison Street, Granville, NY 12832.
