Obituary Condolences

NORTH BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mr. Louis J. Bellemare were held from Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church where the Mass of resurrection was offered by the Rev. James Doherty, pastor. Concelebrating the mass were the Rev. Michael Demasi and the Rev. Julien LaFlamme. Assisting during the mass was Ivan Matte.

Organist was Louise Gauthier and soloist was Mildred Pierce. Hymns offered during the mass were “On Eagles’ Wings,” “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” “The Supper of the Lord” and “How Great Thou Art.”

The pall was placed on Mr. Bellemare’s casket by two nieces, Susan Bellemare and Lynn Lawler. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by Mr. Bellemare’s brother, Bernie. The scriptural readings were offered by a niece, Lynn Lawler, and a nephew, Michael Bellemare. The offertory gifts were presented by a great niece, Sophie Bellemare, and two great nephews, Taylor Bellemare and Jeff Lawler. The eulogy was offered by a nephew, David Bellemare. The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with the Revs. Doherty, Demasi and LaFlamme offering the committal prayers.

Taps were sounded by Maurice Rancourt and the American Flag was folded by American Legion members Ralph Brown and Kenneth Lorette. The flag was then presented to Mr. Bellemare’s brother Bernie.

Serving as pall bearers were Michael Bellemare, Steve Bellemare, David Bellemare, Kevin Lawler, Miles Lawler and Colin Hamilton.

A reception followed the service at the parish hall at St. John’s. A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the Mass.

Monday evening the Revs. Doherty and Demasi offered the wake service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home. Members of Mr. Bellemare’s high school class of 1944 were also in attendance.

Mr. Louis J. Bellemare, 80, a well-known resident of Norton Street in Bennington, died Friday Dec. 2, 2005, in North Bennington. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
