Louis M. Wolff 1941 - 2011 WHITE CREEK, NY Louis M. Wolff, 69, a resident of Stateline Road in White Creek, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his family following a long courageous battle with illness. He was born in Far Rockaway, N.Y. on Oct. 16, 1941. He was the son of the late Louis and Emma Murray Wolff. Lou received his education in Long Island, N.Y. A United States Navy veteran, Mr. Wolff served during the Vietnam era. He married the former Lorraine Nanni on Dec. 4, 2010, at the family home. Louis was a jack of all trades. For many years he was employed by the Local 638 Union on Long Island and Manhattan as a steam fitter. He also worked as an electrician and a laborer. He built the family log home. Lou founded the Bellmore Cares Club, a club which was started to support the Suffolk Developmental Center for the developmentally challenged. He raised thousands and thousands of dollars for those in need. He was a member of the VFW Post 1332 and a former member of the American Legion Post 13. Lou was a member of the Color Guard and VFW Post 1332 since 1992. Due to illness, Lou was unable to march any longer. He was also proud to be a member of the VFW state Color Guard. His sincerity was always shown by taking pride in all the ceremonies, especially for the Gold Star parents. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Olson-Wolff of White Creek, N.Y.; his children, Louis Wolff of Long Island, Ronnie Olson and his wife, Jeanne, of Bennington, Vt., and Julie Olson of Shaftsbury, Vt.; his grandchildren, Shayne Olson and his fiance, Madalyn West, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Louis Wolff of Long Island, Morgan Lorraine Leard of Shaftsbury, Dylan Olson and Brandon Olson of Bennington and Thomas Wolff of Long Island; a great-granddaughter, Vitalia Olson, of Hoosick Falls; a sister, Kathy Slee and her husband, Tom, of Woodford Lake, Vt.; two nephews, Tom and Michael Slee of Long Island; and many very close friends, including Richard Mattison and his wife, Merri, of Eagle Bridge, N.Y. and his extended family, his two sisters-in-law, Norma Germano and her husband, Bob, and Virginia Nanni; two brothers-in-law, Ron Nanni and his wife, Maureen, and Jason Nanni, all of Long Island, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral celebrating Louis' life will be held on Tuesday at 7p.m. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Louis M. Wolff may be made to either the Second Chance Animal Shelter or the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201. All members of VFW Post 1332 are asked to meet at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. to conduct services in memory of Louis M. Wolff.
