Louise Cascio 1923 - 2011 BENNINGTON Louise Keeler Cascio, 87, formerly of Bennington, died unexpectedly on July 13, 2011, at her home in Palm Desert, Calif. Mrs. Cascio was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on Aug. 26, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Viola Jensen Keeler. She grew up in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School. She received her training as a nurse at John Hopkins in Baltimore, practicing there and in Chattanooga, Tenn., for several years. While living in Baltimore during World War II, she had worked for the Glen L. Martin Factory, producing cooling fins for the American bomber planes. After retiring from her nursing career, she purchased a motor home in which she traveled extensively throughout the Unites States with her dog and cat as companions. It was then she fell in love with California. When her motor home was destroyed by fire, she settled back in Bennington. This past August, she relocated to Palm Desert to live out her life in the state she came to love. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed gardening and playing the cello. She leaves her sons, Arthur J. Cascio of McCloud, Calif., and Nelson E. and wife, Phyllis Cascio of Chattanooga, Ten.; sister, Grace, and husband, Peter Pacitto II of Shaftsbury; grandchildren, Joan and Arthur Jr.; brother-in-law Harold Gershaneck of Bennington, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Viola Keeler Gershaneck. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be held at the Park Lawn Cemetery at a time and date to be announced.
