POWNAL CENTER -- Mrs. Louise (Wells) Mativi, 90, a resident of Spruce Street in Pownal Center, died peacefully at her Cozy Meadow home on Thursday, April 13, 2006.

She was born in Cheshire, Mass., on June 12, 1915, the daughter of the late Elsie and Floyd Wells.

Louise took great pride in her home and family and cherished times spent with them. She was a member of the Pownal Valley Swinging Seniors and spent many enjoyable hours with the Pownal Seniors.

Louise is survived by her children, Lenore Doucette and her husband, Donald, of Parrish, Fla., and North Adams, Mass., Clifford (John) Geoffrion and his close friend, Marcia, of Lecanto, Fla., Janice Pratt and her husband, Anson, of Pownal, her youngest son, Wayne Mativi of Pownal, her stepson, Robert A. Mativi of Ohio; her sisters, Eleanor Hair and June Goston both of Clearwater, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Louise was preceded in death by her first husband, Adolph Geoffrion, her second husband of 31 years, Amelio Mativi; three brothers Bill, Floyd and Raymond Wells; two sisters, Irma Monikini and Mayford Biagini; and a stepdaughter, Marilyn Heacox.

Funeral services for Louise will be held Monday afternoon, April 17, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington. The Rev. Constance M. Ekback will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the family lot in Southview cemetery in North Adams, Mass. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Louise’s memory may be made to the Pownal Valley Fire Department or the Pownal Valley Swinging Seniors, c/o Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O.
