Louise C. McSherry 1921-2010 Bennington Louise C. McSherry, 89, a lifelong resident of Bennington, passed away peacefully Monday December 13, 2010 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, surrounded by her family. Louise was born in Bennington on June 15, 1921 the daughter of Charles and Mamie (Bent) Paddock. She attended Bennington schools and graduated from Mt. Anthony Union High School from the Adult Diploma Program in 1992, with her grandchildren which she was very proud of. Louise offered child care services for many years taking care of more than one hundred foster children. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, making jewelry, flower and vegetable gardening and was an avid reader. She took continuing education with Elder Hostel and was the coordinator for the Woman's Home Maker Camp Ondawga in Sunderland for fifty years. Louise was a member of the Ladies Home Demonstration of the Department of Agriculture, the Kindred Spirits and R.S.V.P. Louise is survived by her children James McSherry and his wife Zarick of Bennington, Rev. Richard McSherry of Mechanicville, N.Y., Jean Hoag and her husband Jack of North Bennington and Grace Wilson and her husband Robert of North Bennington, her sister Gladys Paddock of Bennington, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter McSherry whom she married in Columbus, Georgia on March 16, 1943. Mr. McSherry died in 1984. Funeral services for Louise will be held Friday December 17, 2010 at 1pm at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vermont. Interment will follow in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington, Visiting hours will be held Friday December 17, 2010 at the Vermont Veterans Home from 12-1pm, one hour prior to the service.
