Louise A. Walczak
1917-2010 BENNINGTON Louise A. Walczak, 93, widow of Leo F. Walczak Sr., a resident of John Street, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a long illness.
Born in Bennington, Mar. 10, 1917, the daughter of the late Fred and Agnes Callahan Roucoulet, she received her education in the Bennington schools.
Mr. and Mrs. Walczak were married in Bennington on May 18, 1940. Mr. Walczak died July 9, 1971.
In earlier years, Louise was employed at EZ Mills, and later at Hoy Manufacturing Company until the time of her retirement. Following retirement, she enjoyed bird watching while sitting on her front porch.
Louise will be greatly missed by her family and many friends in the Bennington area.
Louise was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, Unit 13, in Bennington.
She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Anne Walczak of Hudson, Fla.; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, including her granddaughter, Jean McLain, and great-grandchildren, Todd and Ian Harrington and Karli Fisher, who provided Louise with loving extra special care during her final years. She is also survived by two sisters, Viola Harrington of Bennington, and Dorothy Burr of Hudson, Fla., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Louise was predeceased by a son, Leo F. Walczak Jr., and by two sisters, Leona Bellrose and Evelyn Goewey.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 9 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5-7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
