Lucy H. Boutin 1918 - 2009 BENNINGTON Lucy H. Boutin, 90, a longtime resident of South Stream Road died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born in Pownal on Aug. 13, 1918, daughter of John T. and Lucy Lillie Quinby, she received her early education at the one room schoolhouse in Pownal. She later graduated from Bennington High School. In earlier years, Lucy had been employed at the Union Carbide Corporation. For 30 years, Lucy had been employed at the Bijur Lubricating Corporation from which she retired. Lucy's home and family were her main interest. She also enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Group and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bennington. Her husband, Rene Boutin, died Feb. 9, 1979. She leaves a daughter, Barbara Cota and William of Bennington; a son, Jack Elwell and Judy of Virginia Beach, Va.; eight grandchildren and their spouses, William Cota Jr. and Julie of York Beach, Maine, Laura Payne and David of Pownal, Mark Elwell and Linda of Virginia Beach, Michael Elwell and Susan of Arlington, Sherry Elwell and Joe Barber of Shaftsbury, Tim Elwell of Bennington, Jennifer Galipeau and Michael of Bennington, and William Celley and Jessica of Bennington; 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons, Stanley Elwell and Rene "Buster" Boutin, and by two brothers, John and Floyd Quinby. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at Noon from the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Mrs. Lucy H. Boutin may be made to the Bennington Project Independence or the Activities Fund at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center or the First Baptist Church of Bennington through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201
