Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Longtin were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c. s. c., associate pastor.

Organist was Don McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the funeral service were “Prayer to St. Francis,” “Ave Maria,” “Here I Am Lord” and “On Eagles’ Wings.” The funeral pall that draped Mrs. Longtin’s casket during the funeral mass was placed by her daughters, Suzanne Higgins and Adrienne Janny and sons, John and Edward Longtin. A crucifix was placed on the casket by Christine Daigneault, a daughter, who also offered the eulogy. The scriptural readings were offered by Nathan Steiner, a great-grandson. The eucharistic gifts were presented by Edward Longtin and a granddaughter, Deborah Frisoli. Acolytes were Leonard Anzivino, Gerald Amadon, John Reed and James Kempf.

Bearers were Tim, Mark and Kevin Higgins, Kyle Daigneault, Anthony Janney and Jeffrey Daigneault.

Honorary bearers from St. Anne’s Society were Doris Bourgeois, Rose Nichols, Marie Ray, Loura Tessier and Theresa Agliere.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

Thursday evening, the Rev. James T. Preskenis offered the wake service during the visiting hours. Also conducting services Thursday evening were members of the St. Anne’s Society who joined in the recitation of the Rosary.

Private committal services will take place at Park Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Longtin, widow of Roland Longtin, died Jan. 10, 2005, at the age of 100.

Funeral arrangements were under the arrangement of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
