Lyman Gunner Hansen Sr. 1942-2010 BENNINGTON Lyman Gunner Hansen Sr. age 68, died at Hospice Woodside in Pinellas Park, Florida on Thursday, October 28, 2010, from complications of an illness. Born April 25, 1942, in Bennington, to Frances Josephine Blake Hansen and C. Henry Hansen, he attended Bennington Catholic High School. Lyman served in the National Guard from 1959 until 1970, attaining the rank of sergeant. On June 2, 1962, he married Mary Ann Smith. He lived in Bennington for 44 years and worked at Vermont Utility Gas Corp as foreman before owning the business of the Harte Threatre with his brother Steven Hansen. While at the Harte Threatre, Lyman was a member of the Bennington Downtown Association. Lyman settled in Pinellas Park, Florida, in 1986 where he worked at Freedom Square as a maintenance supervisor until retiring. Lyman was an avid collector of everything. His favorite collections were autographs of sports personalities and Coca Cola memorabilia. A former Red Sox fan, Lyman supported the Tampa Bay Rays by having season seats and he attended most of the games. Lyman was inducted into the Pepsi Fan Wall of Fame at the Tropicana field in St. Petersburg Florida. Lyman will be especially remembered for his quick wit, his gift of gab, his enormous sense of humor, and his big heart that allowed access to everyone he met. Survivors include his wife Mary Ann Hansen of Pinellas Park, his brother Steven H. Hansen of Bennington, a daughter Lisa Hansen and son in law Charles V. Papcke of Pinellas Park, a son Lyman G. Hansen Jr. (Chip) of Pinellas Park, granddaughter Jami Pello Carpenter and grandson in law Christopher M. Carpenter of Pinellas Park, great-granddaughter Emma N. Carpenter and step great granddaughter Taryn Carpenter, with many cousins and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, November 6, 2010, at 12 p.m. at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St., Bennington, with Pastor Jerrod Hugenot officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Refreshments will be served after the cemetery at Steven Hansen's house.
