Obituary Condolences

NORTH POWNAL -- Funeral services for Lyman S. Pratt were held Friday morning, Dec. 23, 2006, at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., in Bennington.

The Rev. Michael Morneault, hospice chaplain, conducted the service. Those in attendance listened to the hymns “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” The Rev. Morneault offered words from scripture.

Military honors were accorded by VFW Post 1332, Bennington, under the direction of Commander Tom Meehan. The flag that draped the veteran’s casket was folded by color guard members Ralph Elwell and John Welch and presented to Mrs. Pratt by Ralph Elwell. Other members of the color guard included Bill Lorette, David Downey and Warren Brundidge. Sounding Taps and Echo was Maurice Rancourt. Following the service a time of fellowship and refreshments was held at the Pratt family home in North Pownal. Interment in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal will be private.

Lyman S. Pratt, a lifelong resident of North Pownal, died Dec. 19, 2006, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side.

Arrangements were under the care of Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
