Lynn Latson Obituary
Lynn E. Latson

1953 - 2016 Lynn Eileen Steele Latson, 62, died peacefully in her sleep on April 22, 2016 in her home in Brooktondale, NY. She was born September 1, 1953 in Norfolk, VA. She grew up in South Williamstown close to Steele's Corners. She was the daughter of the late Robert "Bob" Steele. Lynn was a student at Mt. Greylock Regional High School, class of 1971, audited graduate level studio art classes at the University of Vermont in the early 1970s where she made life-long friends, and was a brilliantly talented artist from the time she could hold a pencil in her hands. She was a prolific creator: an award-winning artist, nationally published architectural/ interior designer, and unpublished children's book author and illustrator. Lynn took great pride in being a "country girl," and had a deep love for her adopted home of Hancock of over 25 years. She dedicated her time on various committees to improve the Hancock Elementary School, sat on the Hancock School Board and was a life-long advocate for children of all ages including her cousins, nieces and nephews, and was a Fresh Air Fund parent and volunteer for 15 years. Lynn was a spitfire, born as she and Ed often referenced, with a brick in her hand, fighting for justice and providing a voice wherever she saw cause. She had class, she had sass, and was and forever will be, eternally cool. She is survived by her mother, Eileen Steele of South Williamstown, her sister Kim Steele of Williamstown, and her brother Robert "Robbie" Steele and wife Jennifer of Pownal, VT and their grown children Evelyn Haddad of Pownal and Tom Steele of Stowe, VT. Also surviving are her husband of 42 years, Edward "Ed" Latson of Brooktondale, NY, her daughter Tessah, husband Jarrett Garcia and 3 year-old grand-daughter Grayson Eileen of Albuquerque, NM, as well as her son Robert Latson of North Adams, his two children, and his partner Vikki West. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of Lynn Eileen Steele Latson Life will take place Saturday April 30, 2016 at 11am at the Second Congregational Church in South Williamstown.
