Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A prayer service for Madeleine Fitzgerald was held on Wednesday morning, Aug. 9, 2006, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of resurrection at the Sacred Heart-St. Francis deSales Church.

The Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor, officiated the mass. Assisting at the mass were Mr. Edward Molloy, Mr. John Reed, Dr. Barth Vander Els and Mr. Francis Sausville.

The pall was placed upon the casket by Madeleine’s two brothers, George and Alfred Allard. The cross was placed on the casket by her sister, Mrs. Theresa Wood. The Old Testament was read by her nephew, Mr. Brian Wood, and the New Testament was read by her nephew, Mr. Edmund Beaudreau.

Music for the mass included “On Eagles’ Wings,” “Here I Am Lord,” “Ave Maria” and “Prayer of St. Francis.” Organist for the Mass was Mr. Donald McMahon, and the soloist was Ms. Monica Murray.

The Eucharistic gifts were brought to the altar by her nieces, Mrs. Jackie Betti and Mrs. Valarie Turner. Jackie Betti offered the eulogy.

Interment followed in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery, where Father Coppola offered the prayers of committal.

Pallbearers for the services were her nephews, Mr. Gigi Allard, Mr. Randy Wood, Mr. Edmund Beaudreau, Mr. Viatuer Beaudreau, Mr. Brian Wood and Mr. Greg Betti. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society, and were Julia Betit, Doris Bourgeois, Alda Cole, Estelle Hoth, Rachael Kinney and Marie Ray.

Father Coppola offered the vigil service during the calling hours on Tuesday afternoon. The Ladies of St. Anne offered the rosary during the evening calling hours.

M. Madeleine (Allard) Fitzgerald, who was born in Williamstown, Mass., and was the widow of Howard Fitzgerald, died at the Village of Fillmore Pond on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, following a brief illness.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
