Mabel B. Davis 1924-2011 BENNINGTON Mrs. Mabel B. Davis, 87, a former resident of Depot Street and Walloomsac Apartments died Thursday March 31, 2011 at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Catskill, New York January 31, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Manley A Layman and the former Beatrice M. Sprague Layman Whitbeck. Mabel received her education at Bolton Central School in Bolton Landing, Lake George, N.Y. She was first married to Charles Brasie. Mr. Brasie died June 26, 1966. She later married Cassius L. Davis. Mr. Davis died August 7, 1986. In earlier years Mrs. Davis was employed at the Bennington Bell Laundry. Mrs. Davis was a former member of the Old Stone Church in North Bennington and a member of the Missionary Alliance Church in Bennington. Her faith and family were her main interest. Survivors include five daughters, Estelle Robinson and her husband Norman of Bennington, Madeline Wright and Paul West and Etola Mosier and her fiance James Salmon of Waterbury, Vt., Charlene Shewell and Chuck Tobin of Arlington, Vt., and Beverly Whitman of Bennington; Three step sons Glenn Davis of North Carolina, Steve Davis of California and Lawrence Davis of Chester Point, Vt. Two step daughters, Sharon and Linda Davis; Many grandchildren and great grandchildren; A sister, Estelle Taranto of Catskill, NY and several nieces nephews and cousins. She was pre- deceased by two grandchildren, Edward and Robert Lewis Sr. a great granddaughter Charlene C.B. Lewis Pahl and a step brother Ray Davis. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday April; 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Edwin Blue of the Missionary Alliance Church officiating. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday from noon until the time of the service. The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. If friends desire contributions in memory of Mabel B. Davis may be made to the family through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
