Mahlon D. Inman Jr. 1932-2008 POWNAL - Mahlon D. "Ozzie" Inman Jr., 75, a resident of Route 7, died suddenly Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 at his residence. Born in Agawam, Mass. Oct. 11, 1932, son of the late Mahlon D. Inman Sr. and Catherine Ellen Hathaway Inman. He received his education in the Agawam schools. Ozzie was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from Aug. 20, 1951 thru Aug. 15, 1955. In earlier years he was employed at the Tennessee Gas Company in Suffield, Conn., owned a service station in Agawam and was employed at Springfield Hospital. He moved to Pownal over 40 years ago where he was employed at Southern Vermont Orchards and was a self employed carpenter. An emergency medical technician, Ozzie was a former member of the Pownal Rescue Squad and the Pownal Valley Fire Department. He was also a former member of the Agawam VFW Post and the Agawam Sportsman's Club. He leaves three sisters; Judith Gardner and her husband Robert of Pownal, Carol Ann Inman and Nancy Marion Inman, both of Agawam; four nieces and nephews, Robert Mahlon Gardner and his wife Josie of Bennington, Tracy Ann Bates and her husband George of Cambridge, N.Y., Heidi Ellen Gardner of Granville, N.Y .and Shawn Kevin Gardner of Pownal; eight great-nieces and great-nephews, Jonathan Robert Gardner, Amy Marie Gardner, Ashley Nicole O'Dell, Zachery Joseph Bates, Morgan Marie Bates, Tonya Marie Harwood, LaTasha Rose Harwood and Nicholas Matthew Gardner. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gaylord Campbell officiating. Friends may call at the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. Entombment will take place in Park Lawn Chapel with burial to be in North Pownal Cemetery in the Spring.
