Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A Mass of Christian death and burial was held for Margaret D. Willard at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington on Monday, Aug. 16, with the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c., associate pastor, officiating. Selected hymns for the Mass included “Amazing Grace,” “Ave Maria,” “How Great Thou Art” and “On Eagles’ Wings.” The soloist was Ms. Monica Murray and accompanying her on the organ was Mr. Donald McMahon. Assisting at the Mass were Mr. Leonard Anzivino, Mr. Gerald Amadon, Mr. James Kempf and Mr. Bernard Bourgeios.

The eucharistic gifts were presented at the alter by Mrs. Willard’s two daughters, Ms. Felicia Willard and Mrs. Margaret Traub.

Interment followed in the Gerald H.B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, N.Y., with the Rev. Willard Turnbull offering the prayers of committal. Military honors were offered by the National Cemetery Honor Guard, which included flag folding and presentation, rifle salute and taps.

Mrs. Margaret D. Willard, 86, a resident of Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington, died on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, following a long illness. Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home of Bennington.
