BUTLER, Pa. -- Margaret G. “Peggy” Kopper , 63, of Farmington Drive in Butler, Pa., died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at her residence following an extended illness.

Born Sept. 13, 1941 in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Edward V. and Margaret Cavanaugh Gorman. She was a 1957 graduate of St. Mary Academy in Hoosick Falls.

She was a retired registered nurse. She earned her degree in nursing from the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, N.Y. She later earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Villanova University.

She worked at the V. A. Medical Center in Butler. She retired in 1997 following 25 years service. At her retirement, she held the position of quality assurance utilization review coordinator.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

Peggy was deeply loved by her family and friends, and will be sincerely missed, but never forgotten. Surviving is her husband, Edward A. Kopper, whom she married June 18, 1966.

Also surviving are two sons, Edward J. Kopper of Mercer and Kevin P. and his wife, Melinda Kopper, of Mercer; one brother and his wife, Edward and Beverly Gorman of Hoosick Falls; four sisters, Mrs. Gary (Maryann) Pierce of Hoosick Falls, Mrs. John (Kate) Barber of Pittsfield, Mass., Mrs. John (Linda) Stempek of Rutland, Vt., and Mrs. John (Leah) Chapman of Williamstown, Mass.

Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends were received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St., in Butler from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. Funeral services followed from the funeral home with the Rev.. Harry Bielewicz, pastor of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Cremation services were provided by the Geibel Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be sent to St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls.
