Margaret Dougherty Harte Margaret Dougherty Harte, "Sis," 79, widow of the late Charles G. Harte, died October 31, 2011, in Stuart, Fla., surrounded by her family. Margaret was born and raised in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., attended area schools including The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. She married Charles G. Harte of Bennington, Vermont in 1952. They resided on Bank Street in Bennington, where they raised their six children, and together, owned and operated the Harte Real Estate and Insurance Agency for over 25 years. They were faithful parishioners of Sacred Heart Church. Upon relocating to Stuart, Florida with her husband in 1981, Margaret enjoyed an active career in real estate for nearly three decades. Margaret was very committed to philanthropic work. She supported numerous charitable foundations and was a leading ambassador for The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast. Margaret was devoted to her family and friends. She loved travel, cooking, the arts and was an avid reader. Margaret is survived by her six children: Alice, Gregory, Deborah of Florida, Robert of Waipahu, Hawaii and Charissa Harte Comar of Bennington, Vt.; her four grandchildren: Cailin, Wendy-Kathleen and Matthew Comar of Bennington, and Jamie Comar of Florida; and one great granddaughter, Lillian Anna Comar of Bennington. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 53 years and a brother, George Dougherty of Hoosick Falls. Private services were held last Thursday at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Stuart, Florida Memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund at Johns Hopkins University Hospital Memorial Institute, c/o Dr. Joseph Herman,401 N.
