BENNINGTON -- A prayer service was held for Margaret L. “Peggy” Cyphers on Wednesday morning at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington, followed by a Mass of the resurrection at Sacred Heart-St. Francis deSales Church in Bennington with the Rev. James Preskenis, csc, pastor officiating.

The pall was placed on the casket by her two granddaughters, Ms. Sarah Perry and Ms. A.J. Bump. The cross of resurrection was placed on the casket by her two daughters, Mrs. Alice Perry and Mrs. Kathleen Cook.

The Eucharistic gifts were brought to the altar by Mrs. Kathleen Monroe and Mrs. Lorraine Doyle.

The selected music for the mass included; “Be Not Afraid,” “Ave Maria,” “Here I Am Lord,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”

Organist for the Mass was Mr. Donald McMahon and the soloist was Ms. Monica Murray. Assisting at the Mass were Mr. Leonard Anzivino, Mr. John Reed, Mr. Joseph Anton and Mr. Francis Sausville.

Interment followed in the Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington where Fr. Preskenis offered the Prayers of Committal.

Pallbearers for the service were her sons-in-law William Perry and William Litt, and her four grandsons, Adam Bump, Michael Perry, Matthew Perry and Ryan Cook.

The vigil service was offered by Fr. Preskenis during the visitation on Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home.

Margaret L. “Peggy” Cyphers, 74, a resident of Scott Street in Bennington, died on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at the Albany Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
