Margaret Louise Purcell

Obituary Condolences

Margaret Louise Purcell 1924-2008 FREDERICK, MD. Margaret Louise Purcell died Monday, March 24, 2008 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 1, 1924 and raised in Litchfield, Conn., the only daughter to MartIn and Margaret LouIse WeIr. She graduated from CatholIc UnIversIty and shared many stories of her time in the Public Health Service in Washington, D.C. Her passing comes just a few weeks before her 58th wedding anniversary with her surviving husband, John J. Purcell. John has been her steadfast companion and primary care provider during this extended illness. The attention to detail and overall excellence of the care he provided is the single most influential factor in the success of her later years. She leaves two sons, Jack and Jimmy Purcell, who both attended St. Johns College in Washington, D.C. where Peggy Purcell was an active volunteer and president of the Mothers Club. Peggy put her masterful skills with cakes, pies and desserts to good use in the annual cook book produced by the Mothers Club. Family and friends traveled far and wide to sample sweets from her kitchen. Those who lovingly attended to her in her last hours are her sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Barbara Purcell and Jimmy and Lauren Purcell; her grandchildren, Sarah, Danny, Katie, Megan, Lindsey, Allison, Molly, Rebekah and Patrick Purcell. Her legacy recently expanded to include the first born great-grandchild, Emily Logan Spurrier. FUNERAL NOTICE: Visitation with family will be on Thursday March 27, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the KEENEY AND BASFORD P.A. FUNERAL HOME, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday March 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Frederick. Father Richard J. Murphy will officiate. Interment will be held at a later time in East Dorset, Vt. when Margaret Louise Purcell will be returned home to her lovely New England roots.
