Margaret "Peggy" Reif

1946 - 2012 SHAFTSBURY, VT Margaret T. "Peggy" Reif, 66, wife of Thomas R. Reif, a resident of Glastenview Drive, Shaftsbury, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at her residence following a long illness.

Born in Bennington March 10, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Warren A. and Mary (Kuruc) Thayer. Peggy received her early education in the Shaftsbury schools and was a 1964 graduate of North Bennington High School and later graduated from St. Joseph's Business College.

Peggy and Tom were married at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Oct. 4, 1975. In earlier years Peggy was employed by ChemFab Corporation, A & Z Enterprises and William E. Dailey Company. She later worked at the Bromley Brook School in Manchester until July, 2011.

A member of St. John the Baptist Church, Peggy volunteered as a religious education teacher for 12 years and also was a member of the Sodality at the church. She enjoyed crocheting, photography, baking and spending time with her family.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Tom, include a daughter, Sarah Reif and her significant other, Josh Lefebvre of North Berwick, Maine; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Courtney Ludwig-Reif of Shaftsbury and Patrick and Liza Reif of North Bennington; a step-grandson, Colin Joyce; a brother, Jack Thayer of Shaftsbury; her mother-in-law, Shirley Reif of Manlius, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Douglas Greene of Shaftsbury; two aunts, Veronica Lesko and her husband Vincent of Wilmington and Kathryn Putnam of Verona Beach, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peggy was predeceased by a sister, MaryAnn Greene.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. At Peggy's request, there will be no calling hours. Private committal services will take place at the family lot in St. John's Cemetery in North Bennington.

Memorial donations in Peggy's name may be made to Sacred Heart School to help defray tuition costs of a needy child or to either the men's varsity lacrosse program or the woman's basketball program at Mt. Anthony Union High School.
