BRADENTON, Fla. -- Mrs. Margo M. DeCoff, 66, a resident of Palmetto and a former resident of Hoosick, N.Y., died unexpectedly Dec. 15, 2005, at the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.

She was born at the family home in Bennington, Vt., on May 5, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Milton Surdam Sr. and the former Madeline (Champine) Surdam. Margo received her education in Bennington and attended Bennington High School.

She married Andrew DeCoff on May 25, 1985.

In earlier years Margo was a homemaker, and for many years was employed at Union Carbide Corp. After moving to Florida Margo was employed as a beautician and later worked for Bausch and Lomb until her retirement. Margo was a former member of the Bennington Moose Lodge and the Bennington Club. Margo especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, painting, knitting and fishing. In earlier years she enjoyed picking ferns with her grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Andrew O. DeCoff, of Palmetto; her six children, Ronald M. Hall and his wife, Noreen, of Buskirk, N.Y., Kathleen A. Hyde and her husband, James, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Lisa Hall Wirmusky and Marcus Martinez M.D. of Hoosick Falls, Robert M. Bartlett and his wife, Holly, of Hiawassee, Ga.; Michael DeCoff and his wife, Dawn, of Barnard, Vt., and Katrina Davis and her husband, Scott, of Wilder, Vt.; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Milton “Mickey” Surdam Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Bennington and Meridith “Thump” Surdam of Woodford; a sister, Marilyn Weglarz, of Bennington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
