WINOOSKI -- Marie A. Meunier, a former resident of Winooski and a member of Saint Francis Xavier Parish, died peacefully on Sunday, July 11, 2004 in the Mountain View Care Center in Tucson, Ariz.

She made her home with her daughter, Jeanne, and son-in-law, Charles Collins, in Tuscon, Ariz. for the past several years.

Marie was born in St. George de Beauce, Quebec, Canada on March 9, 1920; the daughter of the late Joseph and Alvine (Caron) Roy. She was married to Maurice E. Meunier on Dec. 26, 1946, who predeceased her Jan. 21, 1987.

Marie was a member of the society of St. Ann and the daughters of Isabella. On June 13, 2001, she received a certificate of service as an RSVP volunteer. She loved volunteering at the Fanny Allen gift shop and playing cards with her friends.

Marie is survived by her son, Raymond, and wife, Pam, of Bennington; her daughter; Jeanne, and husband, Charles Collins, of Tuscon, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Shawn Tanner, of Burlington, Jason Tanner, of Hagerstown, Md., and Greer Boulet, of Bennington; one great-grandchild, Dylan Boulet, of Bennington; two brothers, Paul, of Rutland, and George, of Milton; and several nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her sister, Alexina, and brothers, Wilfred, Leopold and Louis.

Marie was predeceased by her first husband, Army Pvt. Frederick J. Bruce, at Luzon Island, Philippine Islands in 1945.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 17 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski.
