BENNINGTON -- Marie Alice Rancourt Krawczyk, 72, wife of Francis J. Krawczyk, a resident of Washington Avenue, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at home surrounded by her family. Marie’s death followed a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Winooski, Oct. 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Henry Emile Rancourt and Lucille Marie Yandow Rancourt. She received her education at Sacred Heart School and was a 1952 graduate of Bennington High School.

Marie and Frank were married at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington on June 25, 1955.

She was dedicated to her home and family and always opening her home to friends and neighbors.

In earlier years Marie had been employed at the A&P store and later at Bennington Convalescent Center. For several years Marie had volunteered at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.

Both Marie and Frank were avid polka dancers and had made many friends attending events throughout the area. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, animals and herbackyard bears.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Krawczyk of Bennington; her children, Pamela M. Prouty and her husband Matt “Scott” Prouty, Francis G. “Bud” Krawczyk, Amy M. Krawczyk and her companion, David Myers, all of Bennington and Eileen M. Rennie and her husband Darrin of Minot, N.D.; her grandson, Daniel S. Prouty and his wife Andrea, her twin granddaughters Katie and Jennifer Prouty of Bennington also granddaughters Jessica L. Krawczyk and Kimberly R. Krawczyk of Shaftsbury; two sisters, Lillian Scrivens and her husband Eugene of Shaftsbury and Paulita Croker of South Burlington; two brothers, Maurice “Mo” Rancourt of Bennington and Roger Rancourt and his wife Arlene of Brunswick, Maine; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grand-nephews and cousins. Marie was predeceased by a sister, Claire Bonenfant.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11 a.m. where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
