BENNINGTON -- Marie Bartlett, 94, widow of Charles B. Bartlett, a former resident of Pratt Street, died on Monday, July 26, 2004, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.

She was born in Adams, Mass. on April 13, 1910 and was the daughter of Walter P. and Pauline Maznicki and one of nine children. Her family owned a farm in Savoy, Mass. She received her education in Adams, Mass. at St. Stanislaus School. Mrs. Bartlett was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett were married in Bennington on June 23, 1930. Mr. Bartlett died on Oct. 20, 1988.

In her early years, Mrs. Bartlett worked as a nurses aide in Bennington area nursing homes including the former Sourdiffe Nursing Home.

Mrs. Bartlett is survived by two nephews, Gordon Johnson of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Theodore Hoczela of Adams, Mass.; a great-niece, Ginger Sawyer Girard of Windsor Locks, Conn.; and a great-nephew, Frederick Sawyer of Savoy, Mass.; as well as great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Mrs. Bartlett is also survived by her caregivers and close friends, Karen Poirier and Fran Eaton.

Mrs. Bartlett is predeceased by one niece, Frieda Hoczela, and a great-nephew, Edward Sawyer.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, July 29, at 1 p.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington with the Rev. Norma Drosky, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Bennington, officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.

There are no calling hours scheduled.
