Obituary Condolences

WOODFORD -- Mrs. Marie C. O’Brien, 79, widow of George Henry O’Brien Jr. and a resident of Route 9 in Woodford, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at her residence.

She was born in Baltimore, Md. April 16, 1925, daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Fehrman) Niemeyer. She received her education in the Baltimore and Punkatuck, Va. schools.

She married George Henry O’Brien Jr. March 2, 1946 in Searsburg. Mr. O’Brien died Nov. 14, 1998.

In earlier years, Marie was employed in the banking business in Baltimore. She moved to Vermont in 1945. In 1961, Marie began working at Montgomery Ward in Bennington, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Rose Ann O’Brien of Woodford; four grandchildren, James Ray O’Brien, George Eldon O’Brien, Rachel Nichols and Anthony Douglas O’Brien; seven great-grandchildren, Amber, Katie, Emily, Liam and Ronan O’Brien, Spencer and Dallen Nichols. She was predeceased by a half-brother, Willard Schmale.

Private graveside services will be held at the family lot in the Crosier Cemetery, Searsburg at the convenience of the family.

At Mrs. O’Brien’s request there will be no calling hours.
